Gabon National Day celebrated at Expo 2020 Dubai

Gabon’s National Day was celebrated on Monday 6th of December 2021 and it was a glamorous event as the main band of the Gabonese Armed Forces thrilled the audience with a military performance of a mix of military tunes and classical works.

Gabon’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Moubelet Boubeya Pacôme attended the event, in the company of Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister for International Cooperation and Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai.

With more than 10% of this stunning land a designated national park, Gabon is home to a huge array of wildlife, from gorillas and forest elephants, to marine turtles and three species of crocodiles. His Excellency, Pacôme reiterated that Gabon was once again showing the world its commitment to environmental protection.

“Gabon is a country of nearly 268,000 sqkm with 800km of coastlines, straddling the equator and covered with 88 per cent of forests, whilst also boasting of the second-largest elephant population in Africa,”

“By visiting our virtual and physical pavilion you will discover the essence of a sustainable, just and equitable world, a manifestation of the humanistic vision of our country, our dear Gabon” concluded Minister Pacôme.

The Executive Director of Expo 2020, Najeeb Mohammed Al-Ali in his speech gave credit to the biodiversity of Gabon and acknowledged the fact that the country demonstrates the importance of planet preservation through its nature-inspired pavilion.

“As a prosperous and bio-diverse land, Gabon also prides itself on having a rich culture and heritage which have been marvellously crafted into the pavilion content to engage visitors and immerse them in a wonderful experience” remarked Al-Ali.

The Gabon pavilion has received over 80,000 visitors and this event attracted even more people to the pavilion.

Her Excellency, Carmen Ndaot, Gabon’s Minister of Investment Promotion emphasised that the country has a very good relationship with the United Arab Emirate and is willing to showcase all the investment opportunities available in Gabon.

Situated in the Sustainability District, Gabon’s pavilion will take visitors through a journey of breathtaking landscapes, natural culture and abundant wildlife.
