The Gambia came together in celebration of its National Day at Expo 2020, staging a colourful display of song and dance on the 11th of December 2021 under the Al Wasl Dome.
His Excellency, Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State in the United Arab Emirates received and welcomed a delegation from the Gambia that included Hamat Bah, Gambia's Minister of Tourism and Culture; Seedy Keita, Gambia's Minister of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment, and a senior delegation of officials from both countries.
Minister of State in the UAE, Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan spoke highly of how Gambia has been actively participating in World Expos since the year 2000. Mentioning that he is excited about all that Gambia has in store for the whole world.
“We are proud that Gambia is one of the UAE's leading economic partners in the West African region, and through Gambia’s presence at Expo 2020 and beyond, we hope to enhance cooperation between our two countries in various sectors of mutual interest, such as trade, investment, and finance.” commented Sheikh Shakhbout.
Gambia’s Minister of tourism and culture, His Excellency, Kumba Bah thanked the host government of the UAE for their warm welcome and urged the whole world to watch out for all the amazing highlights and business opportunities that the Gambia has to offer.
“The people of the UAE have always been willing to support the government and people of Gambia, not only because of our similarities, but also because the UAE is a unique story that each and every country can learn from.” he concluded.
The Gambia prides itself as being a sanctuary for tomorrow. A small nation making big strides, improving infrastructure for greater mobility, restoring forestry for renewed opportunity and agricultural productivity, plus energy efficiency for sustainability.
Their pavilion is found in the Mobility District where visitors are promised to uncover the smiling coast of Africa.
