AU Expo 2020 -Deputy Commissioner General
Mr Chiza Charles Chiumya serves the African Union Commission (AUC) in the capacity of Acting Director of the Economic Development, Trade, Industry, Mining (ETIM).
Mr. Chiumya has a strong persuasion that Africa’s Regional Integration is key to enhancing its share in global trade and boosting Intra-African trade as well as in creating a conducive environment for socio-economic development for the continent.
As the Deputy AU Expo Commissioner General, he is confident that the Expo will provide Africa with excellent opportunities for solutions that would assist in its recovery and building back resiliently and sustainably better from the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.
The Expo offers unparalleled opportunities for Africa to increase its global visibility. This too, comes at an opportune moment when Africa has started trading under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and as such, the continent will showcase its market viability in all sectors including, finance, agribusiness, manufacturing, and services such as tourism and logistics, and telecommunications, among others, backed by continental policies and initiatives such as the Single Africa, Air Transport Market (SAATM) under the Agenda 2063.
