The African Union's core team at the Dubai Expo 2020, collectively brings varying skill sets with the objective to re-branding and re-positioning Africa to the world. 

The team is responsible for curating programming at the Expo 2020 in Dubai, designing and producing pavilion-related content as well as leading all fundraising activities, including the identification of partnership engagement opportunities. The team also collaborates to actively ensure the safeguarding of the AU interests throughout the duration of the Expo, by means of creating media engagement opportunities, developing media communication strategies, and charged with all media-related responsibilities.

Ms. Clelia Kakunze

Policy Officer, AUC

Clelia Kakunze works within the Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Directorate, under the bureau of the AU Chairperson. She is responsible assist in the efficient implementation of the programmes and projects related to the Africa Strategic Partnerships and manages the activities related to those Partnerships.

For the AU participation at Expo, Clelia is the focal point between AU and the Expo 2020 Dubai office for International Participants. She oversees the project delivery and timelines for the AU Pavilion & AU Programming and budget planning and implementation. She also leads all substantive and partnership engagements with AU stakeholders and Partners; 

 

 

Ms. Faith Adhiambo

Communication Officer - Agenda 2063, AUC

Faith Adhiambo works within the Information and Communication Directorate, under the bureau of the AU Chairperson. She is responsible for the Design and implementation of internal and external Agenda 2063 communications strategy, support building the AU Corporate Brand Identity, and resource mobilization for Agenda 2063.

For the AU participation at Expo, Faith is responsible for media and communication matters, programme support, and the AU pavilion.

 

Mr. Stepples Muchimba

Ag Director - Protocol services , AUC

Stepples Muchimba works within the Protocol Services Directorate, under the bureau of the AU Chairperson. He oversees the running of the bureau's administration and office management as well as programmes for the proper execution of the various protocol activities, so as to guarantee the smooth running of business in the directorate.

For the AU participation at Expo 2020, Muchimba co-ordinates the protocol activities within the expo site to ensure the highest international standards; proactively championing protocol to the various AU internal & external stakeholders.

Ms. Margaret Canca

 Programming and Fundraising Expert, AUC 

Margaret Canca is responsible for coordinating all programming activities of AU participation at the Expo 2020 Dubai and mobilize resources from AU stakeholders and partners to sustain AU participation, Ensure the effective implementation of the Fundraising Strategy and Programming Plan during the pre-event period and event time and Implement activities that promote and support in-continent and international fundraising in collaboration with identified key Stakeholders. 

Mr. Lunga Kupiso

AU Expo 2020 Media and PR officer

Mr Lunga Kupiso is the communications and Public Relations officer, he is assisting the AU-Expo team and Media & Communication Liaison officer in implementing planned Media/PR activities, and coordinating all operational communications activities as well as supporting the team to increase awareness on Africa’s participation at the Dubai expo for the six (6) month duration.

Mr. Joseph Yaba

Protocol Liaison Officer

Joseph works within the Protocol Services Directorate of the African Union Commission. He oversees the practical implementation of the Headquarters and Host Country Agreements and also works closely with the Diplomatic communities, International organizations, and partners in the host country.

His role at Dubai Expo 2020, is to assist with the coordination of all AU official functions, ceremonies, and events, Receive VVIP Dignitaries and high-profile personalities to the AU Pavilion, Coordinate and oversee Accreditations of all AU invited guests and dignitaries, working closely with the government officials in respect to access to VIP airport lounges and other exclusive services for AU Officials, perform other Protocol duties as directed.

 

Mr. Peter Kyambadde

Creative Communication & Advertising Expert, AUC 

Peter Kyambadee works within the Information and Communication Directorate, under the bureau of the AU Chairperson. He is responsible for creative concept design and development, brand communication strategy, copywriting, art direction, and advertising production.

For the AU participation at Expo, Peter is responsible for conceptualizing and implementing the design elements of the AU Pavillion. 

 

Ms. Venetia Cohen

Ms Venetia Cohen is responsible for overall AU logistics and events management. In her role she will assist in reviewing logistical notes and panelist documents for AU programming at the Expo 2020 Dubai in collaboration with AUC-Expo team, smooth the AU logistics plans including F&B, venue booking, guest relations, the shipment and transportation plan (STP) and customs clearance operations, and lastly reviewing/submitting the AU commercial activities through the Commercial Proposal
